Improved Cationic Lipid Formulations Increase Efficiency, Physical Stability

Published in Gene Therapy Weekly, February 24th, 1997

DNA molecules formulated into different lipid formulations using Tween 80 show increased physical stability and efficiency.

Cationic liposomes are one of the most promising non-viral delivery systems yet developed. This delivery system employs specific types of cationic lipids as the functional components to bring DNA molecules into the cell of choice. Unfortunately, one of the problems associated with this system is the lack of physical stability of the DNA/liposome complexes.
