The glycoprotein SPARC (secreted protein, acidic, and rich in cysteine) is a widely distributed glycoprotein found in human and murine tissue undergoing developmental regulation. SPARC expression has been found to be associated with morphogenesis, migration, and proliferative processes, and cell-matrix interactions, as well as being found to interact with extracellular matrix components, growth factors, and cytokines, and regulation of matrix metalloproteinase expression.
