Study Seeks Participants for Gene Therapy To Treat Incurable Brain Tumor

A controlled, randomized clinical trial using an investigational gene therapy for patients with glioblastoma multiforme, a type of malignant brain tumor, is continuing to enroll patients worldwide, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, East Hanover, New Jersey, has announced.

Approximately 40 centers in the United States, Canada, and Europe are participating.

The current standard therapy for adult glioblastoma is surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, followed by external beam radiation. Adjuvant chemotherapy with carmustine is sometimes also administered. This study involves the post-surgical administration of GLI-328, a novel gene...
