New Mayo Lab Will Research Blood Clotting Issues Relating To Stroke and Heart Disease

The Mayo Clinic announced the opening of a new vascular biology research laboratory on April 23 in the Samuel C. Johnson Medical Research Building at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale (Scottsdale, Arizona).

Research staff will study blood cell aggregation -- how blood cells adhere to each other and to blood proteins.

This research has major implications for understanding the underlying causes of many diseases, including stroke, congestive heart failure, re-blockage of arteries after angioplasty, and inflammation.
