"A Mouse Model for p53 Glioma Gene Therapy."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 88th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research, held April 12-16, 1997, in San Diego, California, "Restoration of the p53 gene shows promise as a genetic therapy for many cancers. Accordingly, it is important to understand more about the relative importance of its pleiotropic tumor suppressor functions in situ. Rodent models using rodent glioma cells may not be accurate models for a variety of reasons. We have developed an in vivo mouse model by implanting human glioblastoma cells (LN-Z308), tagged with the (beta)-galactosidase marker gene, into the striatum of nude mice. LN-Z308 cells are p53...
