Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Suppresses Silica-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis

Antisense DNA of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) has a suppressive effect on the development of pulmonary fibrosis in a murine model.

PDGF is recognized as a competence factor for fibroblast proliferation. It has not been determined, however, whether this factor actually plays a critical role in the process of pulmonary fibrosis in vivo.
