"Alloantigen Gene Therapy for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Gene Therapy of Cancer VI conference, held November 20-22, 1997, in San Diego, California, "Expression of foreign antigens, including class I major histocompatibility proteins, has been proposed to induce immunologic anti-tumor responses. To determine the safety and efficacy of this immunogenic gene therapy, nine patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma who had failed conventional therapy and did not express HLA-B7, a class I major histocompatibility protein, were treated with Allovectin-7 by direct intratumoral injection.
