Genetically Engineered Tumor Cells Mediate Bystander Effect

Numerous suicide gene therapy models have explored the bystander effect mediated by herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase (HSVtk) gene/ganciclovir (GCV) treatment. Typically these involve inserting a mixture of parental tumor cells and HSVtk gene-transduced cells into the animal followed by GCV administration.
