"Adenoviral Expression of a-Endorphin in Cell Cultures."

According to an abstract submitted by the author to the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, held October 18-20, 1998, in Orlando, Florida, "Introduction: Gene therapy may offer an alternative for treatment of the severe, intractable pain often accompanying the terminal stages of cancer. A replication-defective adenovirus containing the gene expressing b-endorphin was made (AdNGFbEND). The present study was designed to test that cultured cells transduced with the virus would express extracellular b-endorphin.
