"Phosphoglycerokinase-1 Driven Apolipoprotein A-I Expression Is Transplantable Via Bone Marrow."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 27th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Experimental Hematology, held August 1-5, 1998, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, "Apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I), the major building block of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), clears plasma cholesterol to the liver. This project produces constructs in which human apoA-I gene expression is driven by promoters expressed in descendants of marrow precursor cells, replacing the native promoter which expresses only in liver and small intestine. Marrow grafts from mice transgenic for these constructs is transplanted to test the hypothesis that apoA-I producing marrow can retard...
