Intratumoral AdV-Mediated TNF-(alpha) Induces Tumor Regression

Intratumoral inoculation of an adenovirus (AdV) expressing the fusion protein RM4 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-(alpha) induces significant solid tumor regression.

TNF-(alpha) is an immunoregulatory cytokine that can enhance the cytotoxic activities of macrophages, neutrophils, and cytotoxic T cells. Unfortunately, therapeutic doses of systemic TNF-(alpha) can cause severe side effects in humans.
