Company Licenses Recent Alzheimer's Discoveries

GenoPlex, Inc., Denver, Colorado, announced that it has entered into an exclusive license arrangement with Massachusetts General Hospital for discoveries by Harvard neurogeneticist, Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, related to A2M gene variants genetically linked to Alzheimer's disease.

The A2M genes code for variants of the protein a2-macroglobulin (a2M). A2M is only the second gene found to be a risk factor for developing late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD); late-onset accounts for the vast majority of Alzheimer's cases. One of the a2M variants is found in approximately 30 percent of the U.S. population, the other in 42 percent. Thus, these variants could play a significant role...
