Size Reduction of PEI/DNA Complexes Improves Gene Transfer

Reducing the size of galactosylated polyethylenimine (PEI) DNA complexes improves lectin-mediated gene transfer into hepatocytes, a recent study shows.

T. Bettinger and colleagues from CNRS UMR, France, investigated the role of the saccharide length on the size of glycosylated-PEI/DNA particles. Their results were reported in the journal Bioconjugate Chemistry ("Size Reduction of Galactosylated PEI/DNA Complexes Improves Lectin-Mediated Gene Transfer into Hepatocytes," Bioconjugate Chemistry, July-August 1999;10(4):558-561).
