"Using a Balb/C syngeneic model of colorectal cancer we have demonstrated that suicide gene therapy is enhanced by the inclusion of genes coding for cytokines," wrote Rebecca Jones and colleagues from the University of Liverpool, England. "Moreover, combined suicide and GM-CSF gene therapy also generates systemic anti-tumor immunity. The present studies have addressed the role of bone marrow derived cells in these gene therapy models."
