Redirected Measles Virus Hemagglutinin Protein Attacks Cancer Cells

Redirection of measles virus hemagglutinin protein kills cancerous cells, reported researchers from the United States.

"Measles virus (MV) induces a lethal cytopathic effect in infected cells, causing large multinucleated syncytia," wrote Anthea L. Murphy and colleagues from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. "The ability to restrict this property to particular subsets of cells may provide an efficient means to specifically destroy deleterious cells."
