Anti-Angiogenesis Approach Targets Malignant Ascites

"Recent evidence suggests that tumor-mediated angiogenesis and enhanced vascular permeability plays a fundamental role in the accumulation of ascites associated with intra-abdominal neoplasms," said Monika Hampl and colleagues from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, USA, and the Fuji City General Hospital, Japan. "The aim of this study was to explore the potential of targeted anti-angiogenic therapy as a means to control ascites formation and influence survival."
