Genasense Enhances Activity of Chemotherapy in Mouse Model

Genta Inc. (GNTA), Lexington, Massachusetts, announced publication of study results with Genasense, an antisense drug used in combination with doxorubicin, a standard therapy for breast cancer.

In the study, immune-deficient mice were transplanted with human breast cancer and then treated with Genasense, either alone or with doxorubicin. Whereas the individual agents showed only modest activity when used alone, the two-drug combination yielded highly synergistic antitumor activity.
