Adenovirus Vectors Cannot Infect Female Germ-Line Cells

An important concern facing implementation of gene therapy protocols in humans is the potential of adenovirus infection of oocytes which could pass along potentially unwanted genetic alterations to future generations. J.W. Gordon, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, New York City, assessed this risk in female mouse germ-line cells and reported the findings in Molecular Therapy.
