PowderJect Opposes Vical Inc.'s Core DNA Vaccines Patent

PowderJect Pharmaceuticals Plc (PJP), a specialty vaccines company, and its wholly owned subsidiary PowderJect Vaccines, Inc., have successfully challenged Vical Inc.'s (VICL) core European patent relating to naked DNA vaccines. As a result of this challenge, mounted by PowderJect and six other parties, the European Patent Office overturned Vical's patent in its entirety, determining that the company's European Patent No. 0 465 529 contained no allowable claims.
