Using current techniques, medical researchers in China at the Fourth Military Medical University have developed gene therapy consisting of antisense RNA to vascular endothelial growth factor (165), one of the growth factor's major isoforms. Initial results indicate it may be a prospective candidate for treating solid tumors that progress largely as a result of angiogenesis.
