Some liver cells more amenable to transduction

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - More often than not, normal liver cells will accept adenoviral-mediated gene transfer more readily than injured liver cells will, researchers at Duke University say.

Yu and colleagues on the North Carolina university's research team recently explained the continuum for successful liver cell transduction in the March 2002 edition of American Journal of Physiology - Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology. According to the report, some cells in the injured or uninjured liver may be more amenable to accepting transferred genes.
