Method for rapid large-scale bacterial identification published

Sequenom, Inc., (SQNM) a discovery genetics company, announced that it has developed a method for rapid large-scale bacterial identification, as published in the latest edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA.

This new method, which can be used to determine the genetic barcode of any bacterial specimen, is based on a combination of DNA amplification, base-specific cleavage, and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, the same technology used in Sequenom's powerful MassARR
