Preclinical Study: INGN 241 inhibits growth of lung cancer

A preclinical study published in the current issue of Oncogene demonstrates that Introgen's (INGN) gene drug INGN 241, an adenoviral vector encoding the melanoma differentiation association 7 (mda-7) gene suppressed the growth in vivo of non-small cell lung cancer through a process called apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in combination with antiangiogenesis.

This is the first published study demonstrating the inhibition of human lung cancer in animal models with the mda-7 gene. The study was conducted by Introgen and its collaborators in the department of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. INGN 241...
