Pseudotyped vectors suitable for stem cell applications

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Vectors derived from human packaging cell lines outpace those produced by murine packaging cell lines for generating transduction stability and multilineage activity in hematopoietic stem cells, researchers say.

Scientists in Seattle, Washington, have developed such a vector and tested its efficacy in animals for more than a year. Their findings indicate the vector would be suitable for therapies combining gene transfer with stem cell implantation.
