Downregulation of fibronectin reduces vascular lesions in rodent retinas

According to published research from the United States, "overexpression of extracellular matrix (ECM) components is closely associated with the development of vascular basement membrane (BM) thickening, a histological hallmark of diabetic microangiopathy."
