Drug discovery firm receives patent for functional biology platform

Tranzyme, Inc., a drug discovery company focused on diseases of the neurosensory system, announced the issuance of a new patent related to the company's gene delivery technology, TranzVector. This U.S. patent provides key intellectual property for the packaging of lentiviral and retroviral gene transfer vectors.

The patent specifically covers the use of the Gag polyprotein to mediate the packaging of functional reverse transcriptase (RT) and integrase (IN) independently of native Gag-Pol expression.
