Folate receptors ensure correct delivery of tumor-selective gene therapy

According to a study from the United States, "gene therapy is a promising approach for the treatment of cancer. The main obstacle for the clinical application of cancer gene therapy is the lack of gene transfer vectors that are safe, efficacious, and tumor-selective. In recent years, targeted gene delivery through cellular receptors, using either viral or nonviral vectors, is emerging as a novel approach to enhance the efficacy of tumor-selective gene delivery."
