Committee endorses bill to give Arkansas organ donors a tax break

Arkansans could take deductions up to $10,000 on their state income-tax returns for expenses related to organ donations if a bill endorsed by a House committee becomes law.

Meanwhile, a bill intended to curb the state's methamphetamine epidemic by locking up certain cold medications continued its rapid run through the Arkansas Legislature. The bill by Senator Percy Malone, D-Arkadelphia, was approved by the House public health committee February 8, 2005, and next heads to the House floor.
