VEGF depletion diminishes cardiac function in hearts injured by diabetes.

"Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is characterized by microvascular pathology and interstitial fibrosis, which leads to progressive heart failure; however, the pathogenesis of DCM remains uncertain," researchers in the United States report.
