Reports add new data to prostate cancer vaccines research

Data on prostate cancer vaccines are outlined in reports from Sweden and the United States.

Study 1: Scientists report the results of immune monitoring in a phase 1 trial of a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) DNA vaccine in patients with hormone-refractory prostate cancer.

According to a study from Sweden, "Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of cancer illness and death among men in Europe. No curative treatment exists when the disease has spread beyond the prostate. Immunotherapy with DNA vaccines has emerged as a potential therapeutic approach for the induction of antitumor specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes."
