Reference lab, Roche Diagnostics signs agreement to offer assay for genetic testing

Specialty Laboratories (SP) (Specialty), a hospital-focused clinical reference laboratory, announced that it has signed an agreement with Roche Diagnostics Corp. (Roche) to begin offering the AmpliChip CYP450 assay, a microarray-based test for in vitro diagnostic use.

Test results using the AmpliChip CYP450, which is powered by Affymetrix microarray technology, will allow physicians to consider genetic information from patients in selecting medications and doses for a several common conditions such as pain medication, cardiac disease, cancer and depression.
