Connective tissue growth factor stimulates fibroblast collagen deposition

According to research from the United States, connective tissue growth factor (CCV2, CTGF) stimulates collagen deposition by gingival fibroblasts via module 3 and alpha 6- and beta 1 integrins.

"CCN2/CTGF is a matricellular factor associated with fibrosis that plays an important role in the production and maintenance of fibrotic lesions. Increased collagen deposition and accumulation is a common feature of fibrotic tissues," wrote E.C.K. Heng and colleagues, Boston University.
