Myeloablative alkylator therapy effects on peripheral blood cells clarified

A study from the United States has reported on the in vivo effects of myeloablative alkylator therapy on survival and differentiation of O-6-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase (MGMT)(P140K)-transduced human G-CSF-mobilized peripheral blood cells (MPB).

"High-intensity alkylator-based chemotherapy is required to eradicate tumors expressing high levels of MGMT. This treatment, however, can lead to life-threatening myelosuppression.
