Cepheid awarded $3.3 million STTR NIH/NIAID grant for TB test development

Cepheid (CPHD), a broad-based molecular diagnostics company, announced the receipt of Phase 2 funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) for their Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Grant entitled, "Sample Processing Cartridges for Rapid PCR TB Detection."

Cepheid's academic partner for this program is Dr. David Alland of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).

Cepheid and UMDNJ previously announced a program for development of an easy-to-use PCR cartridge that detects the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and also predicts drug resistance in about one hour. This program is...
