Researchers' work from Austria, Singapore and the People's Republic of China adds to hepatocellular carcinoma body of knowledge

Hepatocellular carcinoma data are the focus of recent research from Austria, Singapore and the People's Republic of China.

Study 1: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) could be linked to the epigenetic silencing of NORE1B, a candidate tumor suppressor.

"In HCC the ras-proto-oncogene is rarely mutated. We therefore studied the possible inactivation of the putative tumor-suppressors and ras-associating proteins, NORE1A, NORE1B, and RASSF1A in HCCs by mutation or epigenetic gene silencing through promoter-CpG hypermethylation.
