Study 1: According to recent research published in the Journal of Cell Science, epilysin (MMP-28) induces TGF-beta mediated epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung carcinoma cells.
"Epilysin (MMP-28) is the newest member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family. Although it is expressed in a number of tissues, no biological substrates or functions for this enzyme have been identified yet," wrote S.A. Illman and colleagues, University of Helsinki.
