Researchers from University of California, Department of Anesthesiology report recent findings in gene therapy

New research, "Schwann cells: activated peripheral glia and their role in neuropathic pain," is the subject of a report. According to recent research published in the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity, "Schwann cells provide trophic support and in some cases, insulation to axons. After injury, Schwann cells undergo phenotypic modulation, acquiring the capacity to proliferate, migrate, and secrete soluble mediators that control Wallerian degeneration and regeneration."
