New life sciences research reported from Pennsylvania State University

According to recent research published in the Journal of Nutrition, "Despite having a similar structure, various conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) isomers have a distinct gene expression pattern in RAW 264.7 (RAW) cells, a mouse macrophage cell line. Among the 5 CLA isomers tested [9cis(Z),11 trans(E)-, 9Z,11Z-, 9E,11E-, 10E,12Z-, and 11Z,13E-CLA], only 9E,11E-CLA induced the endogenous antiinflammatory molecule, interleukin (IL)-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1 Ra), in RAW cells."
