Study findings from T. Ozaki et al broaden understanding of antisense technology

According to a study from Osaka, Japan, "In the inflamed liver, proinflammatory cytokines including TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta, and IFN-gamma stimulate the induction of iNOS gene expression, leading to excess production of NO and resulting in liver injury. The induction of iNOS is regulated by transactivation of the iNOS promoter with transcription factors such as nuclear factor kappa B and by posttranscriptional modifications such as mRNA stabilization."
