Scientists discuss in 'Transgene expression in the mouse cerebellar Purkinje cells with a minimal level of integration using long terminal repeat-modified lentiviral vectors' new findings in gene therapy. According to a study from Maebashi, Japan, "Lentiviral vectors (LVs), which preferentially target nondividing cells, such as neurons, are promising tools for gene therapy. However, these vectors are still unsuitable as they result in insertional mutagenesis."
