Research from Fudan University, Department of Physiology in macrophages provides new insights

Research findings, 'Tryptase promotes human monocyte-derived macrophage foam cell formation by suppressing LXRalpha activation,' are discussed in a new report. According to recent research from Shanghai, People's Republic of China, "Accumulated mast cells in atherosclerotic plaques secrete a high level of tryptase that may participate in the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic disease by diverse pathways. However, the role of tryptase in the lipid metabolism of macrophages remains to be defined."
