Scientists at University of Siena, Department of Physiology discuss research in breast cancer

2010 DEC 30 -- Fresh data on breast cancer are presented in the report 'Interleukin-1ß regulates the migratory potential of MDAMB231 breast cancer cells through the hypoxia-inducible factor-1a.' According to a study from Siena, Italy, "The casual relationship between inflammation and tumor progression has been widely accepted and the etiology of breast cancer has been associated with inflammatory processes. Interleukin (IL)-1ß, besides its central role in inflammation, has also been recognised as a powerful player in tumor progression, angiogenesis and invasiveness."
