2011 JAN 6 -- Scientists discuss in 'Progress and prospects: foamy virus vectors enter a new age' new findings in gene therapy. "Foamy viruses, distantly related to the major subfamily of Retroviruses, Orthoretroviruses that include oncoviruses (for example, murine leukemia virus (MLV)) and lentiviruses (human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)), are endemic in mammalian species, but not in human populations. Humans infected by accidental or occupational exposure remain well," scientists in London, the United Kingdom report.
