Studies from National University Provide New Data on Enzymes and Coenzymes

2011 JUL 21 -- A report, "Treatment of fabry disease: current and emerging strategies," is newly published data in Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. "Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder (LSD) due to deficiency of the enzyme a-galactosidase A (GLA). Absent or reduced enzyme activity leads to impaired catabolism of neutral glycosphingolipids, particularly globotriaosylceramide (Gb3), resulting in intracellular deposition of such lipids," researchers in La Plata, Argentina report.
