Kyoto University Describes Research in Gene Therapy

2012 JAN 5 -- Investigators publish new data in the report "Inhibition of nuclear delivery of plasmid DNA and transcription by interferon ': hurdles to be overcome for sustained gene therapy." According to the authors of recent research from Kyoto, Japan, "Sustained expression of murine interferon (IFN)-' (Mu') was found to be effective in preventing tumor metastasis and atopic dermatitis in mouse models. However, our preliminary experiments suggested that the time-dependent decrease in the Mu' expression was not compensated for by repeated injections of Mu'-expressing plasmid."
