Research conducted at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Department of Pathology has provided new information about parkinson disease genetics

Fresh data on Parkinson disease are presented in the report "Alpha-synuclein acts in the nucleus to inhibit histone acetylation and promote neurotoxicity." According to recent research from the United States, "Alpha-synuclein is a neuronal protein implicated genetically in Parkinson's disease. alpha-synuclein localizes to the nucleus and presynaptic nerve terminals. Here we show that alpha-synuclein mediates neurotoxicity in the nucleus."
