"Genetics of Host Resistance to Murine Malaria."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the conference Genomics, Functional Genomics, Proteomics, and Beyond: New Horizons for the 21st Century Academia - Pharmaceutical Collaborations, held June 23-25, 1999, in Paris, France, "Using F2 progeny from several different crosses between susceptible and resistant inbred strains of mice, three loci influencing host response to murine malaria have been mapped. Two of these loci, char1 on chromosome 9 and char2 on chromosome 8, affect peak parasitemia and survival, whereas the third locus, char3 on chromosome 17, affects daily parasite levels after peak parasitemia. Current work is directed towards the cloning of these three loci. ...
