July 30th, 2004
Researchers find that common arrhythmias have a genetic component. According to published research from the United States, "Investigation of families with monogenic arrhythmia syndromes has identified genes whose further study has proven extraordinarily valuable in further understanding variability in cardiac electrophysiology and its response to exogenous stressors." "One lesson being learned from this work is that individuals from the same kindred with the same disease-associated DNA variant may nevertheless display strikingly different phenotypes.
