Gene polymorphisms and diabetic nephropathy relationship needs investigation

The relationship/association between gene polymorphisms and diabetic nephropathy requires investigation. "Diabetic nephropathy is present in 35-45% of type 1 diabetic patients after 15-20 years of diabetes duration. Glycemic control and diabetes duration are the major risk factors for diabetic nephropathy.
