Early atherosclerosis in childhood is the focus of review

Early atherosclerosis in childhood is considered in a review of diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies published in the International Journal of Cardiology.

According to the review, "The long preclinical phase of atherosclerosis involves the interaction of genetic and environmental factors that modulate the progression of disease from early life. Injury to the endothelium is a critical step in the atherosclerotic process."
